Specifically, we import coffee beans from certain regions across the globe. Because each country is unique—with different elevations, soils, climates, and more—each will have a different approach to harvesting and processing their coffee beans.
Fine Roasted Coffees from around the World
Traveling the world to visit producers reminds us of the differences in every region, every farm, and our approach to sourcing and roasting aims to highlight and honor these distinctions. It’s humbling to be welcomed by producers with generosity and hospitality; this is also something we try to honor and reflect, in turn, to our customers

Our inspiration came from frequent trips to our homeland of Costa Rica, where we constantly enjoyed coffee with tremendous flavor. At the same time, we knew most people in the U.S. were satisfied with tasteless, bitter coffee and were unaware that coffee could be an exotic experience. This is why we started Volcanica Coffee, to focus on high-quality single origin coffees and help educate consumers about what coffee can truly be.

Top Quality Green Beans from Around the World
This shade-grown Sumatran coffee is a classic, so steeped in the history of this Indonesian island that the name itself is not of a region, but rather the result of a language barrier. Sumatra Mandheling is grown on the slopes of Mount Leuser, a volcano near the port of Pandang, in the Batak area of Aceh. It is home to one of the most ancient ecosystems in the world!
The flavor profile is vibrant and spicy, a heavy coffee reminiscent of the atmosphere on this tropical paradise.
Grown in one of Indonesia’s highest elevations, the Sulawesi Toraja is procured by micromills less than 3 acres in size. The community of farmers meticulously sort, de-pulp, and ferment the coffee cherries overnight––this is known as wet-hulling––a unique process that leaves the parchment and mucilage on the bean during fermentation so the coffee will possess an earthy flavor. The next day, the cherries are washed and stripped. Finally, they are patio-dried evenly in the sun for 2-3 days.
This specific Arakara AA hails from the Arokara Cooperative, a partner of plantations in the Eastern Highlands of Papua, New Guinea. Recently, the plantations have been transferred to the original owners who believe in a chemical-free production process. The coffee’s cherry is hand-picked by the clan, immediately pulped, and fermented in cement vats for three days. Then, the coffee is washed with the Aru River’s water and sun-dried for seven to twelve days.
Distinctive Flavors from Around the World
Hailing from the southwestern Mexican state of Oaxaca to the western mountain ranges of Chiapas, this bean has a rich cultural history––since 1989, the Oaxaca State Coffee Producers Network (CEPCO) has been uniting and supporting producers in order to create the highest quality bean with no stale flavors.
The Caranavi is a specialty Bolivian coffee grown by a small group of native coffee farmers known as colonials, on land that is at high elevations rising to 8,500 feet above sea level.
These coffee beans are cultivated in the tropical growing regions of Bolivia below a magnificent forest, coming from 41 small farms averaging about three acres each.
Shantawene -This lot comes to us from approximately 500 small speciality coffee farms located 1920-2020 meters above seal level near villages Shantawene, Abore and Bombe.
